A New Year!

Welcome back to school! What a wonderful first few weeks back it has been! We have launched right into our Science curriculum, and our class is currently learning about Matter with Mr. Harris. We just finished our rotation with Miss Van Orden, where the students learned about Earth's Changing Surfaces, and had a great time making their own volcanoes! (on a side note-- we could really use some "D" Batteries and Flashlight lightbulbs for our Electricity Science Unit! Thanks!)

We are continuing our studies of the American Revolution and will begin learning about government and our US Presidents in the coming weeks.

We are also finishing our Division unit in math, and will have our test at the end of this week! Please continue to practice multiplication and division facts with your child--as they are imperative to everything we do in fifth grade math!

Another important item of information that your child can work on from home is our writing unit. Your child can log into www.utahwrite.com and practice for our DWA Writing test coming up next month. They may choose any topic to write about, or finish a writing assignment from class. (User name= student ID, Password= birthdate (ex. 03052001)) If you need this information, you can find it on skyward or email me and I will send it to you.

Please let me know if you have any questions about anything we are doing! As always we welcome volunteers & visitors anytime!

**We can always use Kleenex, Clorox Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, & Ziploc Bags (any size)

My last item of concern is the amount of LATE and MISSING work that many students have-- please look for your student's missing work report this Wednesday! Please help your child get caught up as much as possible. Also--please let me know what I can do to help facilitate the completion of these assignments!! Thank you for all you do!!
