Science Fair

Dear Parents,

Your child has the opportunity to enter our grade science fair this year.  There are three types of project processes your child can do for a science fair project for the school science fair. 

1) The Scientific Method process

2) The Engineering Design process

3) The Computer Design process

Jordan School District has put together a student packet for each process listed above for you child to follow for his/her science fair project.  These student packets are found on the Jordan School District website.  Follow the directions below to find these packets.

1.     Go to www.jordandistrict.org.

2.     Under “Faculty and Staff”, hit “Departments”.

3.     Click on “Science (Elementary)”. 

4.     On the right side click on the student packet your child wants to do or review.

5.     When you click on it, it will automatically download it onto your desktop.

At this time scroll down and click on Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair (CUSEF) Registration Form-–English or Spanish to download it. Many think that this form is just for those entering the Jordan School District Science Fair and the Regional Fair at BYU.  This is not so.

The CUSEF Registration Form is for our grade science fair also. When your child fills it out he/she will see all the rules and guidelines that must be followed when doing a science fair project so it won’t be disqualified.  Below is what is found on each page.

Page one:        Student Information; Project Information.

Page two:        Science Fair and Project Rules. If the student is doing any of these projects, he/she will need to acquire professional signatures to make sure the project is done in a safe manner. There are no exceptions.

Page three:       Science Fair Project and Research Plan. The student needs to write up the science fair plan he/she will follow in doing the science fair project. This is for his/her teacher to review.

Page four:        Display Safety Rules; Student and Parent Signatures.

When the form is complete, your child will give it to me to review.  If everything is complete, I will sign it knowing that it will be a safe project. The registration form will be kept by me.  Once the registration form is complete and handed in, your child can begin with the science fair project using one of the project processes.
